ABSTRACT:
HPC is everywhere. The fact of high performance or high end computing expanding to other markets with small to medium sized clusters of systems has long been foreseen. But the expansion brings about another issue: Data is everywhere. The data could be stored locally with the systems, stored with the user, distributed amongst several sites in small or large federations, or stored in a cloud. To the user, data is the real golden egg and the system the goose they must use to acquire or manipulate it. As we generate more and more data, data
management becomes increasingly difficult.
This panel will discuss key issues with the expansion of HPC as it relates to metadata for data provenance, data mining and introspection for users, and what metadata and metadata rules organizations should use when dealing with cloud environments.
